On the Attack Against Dr Wright Again

Currently in the stifling bureaucratic environment of Washington State Jonathan Wright, MD is under attack again, this time from the Department of Health. The problem, as reported, seems to have to do more with an error on the part of the WA DOH bureaucrats that anything Dr. Wright did or did not do.

This is fairly typical for this department. Their current Secretary has been a party and state loyalist for decades. This agency will go to great lengths to protect the agency long before it will admit wrong doing and make any corrective changes. It is little different than Washington state's Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) or other agency for that matter. In 1998 the then governor issued an executive order addressing the lack of proper investigative acumen in state agencies. Clearly WA DOH ignored this over the past decade and more.

Look at the recent attack on Phil Werschler, MD of Spokane.

Look back many years at the attack on Glenn Warner, MD of Seattle. He was a champion of the people, especially those with cancer, and years ahead of this time.

 CANCER SURVIVAL and WELLNESS
The Philosophy of Dr. Glenn A. Warner, M.D. (1919-2000)
"I learned many lessons during my years of practice, the most important being: * Cancer is a carcinogenic process within the body that can be reversed, * The healing process is entirely up to you, * Reversing the carcinogenic process and becoming a long term survivor requires you to take control of your life, make informed choices about treatment, and select the therapies best suited to your healing process."
THE PROCESS OF HEALING "Self empowerment is the key to a healthy life. Simply put, it means you must take charge of the things you do in your life in order to create and maintain the health you want. If you suffer a life threatening illness, you are fully capable of making the choices and changes necessary to help your body heal. It's up to you and you alone; no one else can do it for you. Healing and maintaining your health is your responsibility, not the doctor's. The doctors job is to help you buy time to heal." Use this time well and begin planning now what you want your life to be after you recover!
What do we know about cancer? The majority, if not all of us, live with cancer cells in our bodies all the time. Our immune system keeps these cells under control until events occur in our lives that prevent it from doing its job of keeping cancer cells at bay. The process of degeneration usually starts with a trauma to the body, mind or emotions. In my clinical practice I found it takes 10-15 years for cancer to develop to a stage where it becomes a problem for the individual. Toward the end of this period a key event or trigger in the individual's life will accelerate the cancer growth; usually one year prior to the development of the malignant stage.
What do we know about the immune system? * It's your body's primary cancer fighter, it can be strengthened. * Depression, fear, anxiety and stress suppress it. * Chemotherapy and radiation can destroy it. * Raw natural foods strengthen it. * Poor quality foods and malnutrition are the main causes of immune system deficiency (example: sugar can shut off the immune system and inactivates white blood cells for up to 24 hours after ingestion).
TAKE CONTROL + BUILD IMMUNE SYSTEM + AGGRESSIVE THERAPY + MAINTAIN HEALTH = LONG TERM SURVIVAL
1-Take control Do not rush to treatment; it's no time to panic. - Learn everything about your disease - Understand how you heal from illness - Research all therapies available - Research treatment clinics and doctors - Research support groups Find a doctor to work with you (2-4 opinions) - Who has an immuno therapy background - Who will answer all your questions - Who communicates well - Who welcomes your input and offers hope - Who will give 5 referrals of 5 year survivors Explore your reasons and purpose to live - Ask questions about your life and future - Ask what lifestyle changes you must make
2-Build immune system Work with a physician and natural care practitioner Ensure high quality Nutrition - Juice raw vegetables and fruits - Eliminate sugar, alcohol, and caffeine - Eliminate red meat - Use high quality vitamins and minerals Detoxify your Body - Test for and eliminate toxins in the body - Replace dental amalgams and root canals - Keep blood pH levels alkaline Lose weight if overweight Eliminate Stress - Simplify your life - Eliminate negative environments/thoughts - Develop a positive attitude - Explore art, music, and meditation Exercise - At least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week - 5-6 hours before bedtime Sleep a minimum of 8 "quality" hours nightly - Consult a sleep clinic if you have problems
3-Aggressive therapy Immuno Therapy Proven Safest-Most Effective Evaluate merits of chemotherapy and radiation - Can suppress or destroy your immune system - Reduces quality of life and longevity - Recovery can take years - Use fractional doses as a last resort Use minimal surgery to reduce/eliminate tumor Pursue your choice of therapy aggressively - Combination of treatments most effective - Choose a program that fits your beliefs - Believe in the program you choose Make body a hostile environment for disease - Totally eliminate stress; get plenty of rest - Juice, detox, exercise, and meditate Believe in your body's ability to heal itself - Learn to visualize your body as healthy - Explore and develop your spiritual nature - Believe in the power of prayer - Dedicate everything you do to wellness
4-Maintain health Maintain total control of your healing process Change your lifestyle to support your healing Ensure regular checkups and tests Continue learning about your disease Maintain a strong immune system Continue spiritual development Continue developing a positive attitude Avoid stress, resolve conflict, and meditate Maintain quality rest and sleep cycles Maintain a high quality nutritional program Maintain a detoxification program Continue daily exercise program Attend support group meetings Trust the healing process and "Live Life Well!"
WHAT CHOICES WILL YOU MAKE? If you are reading these words, you are looking for a way to better health and overcoming disease. Dr. Warner's approach to cancer therapy developed over 40 years of observing what he saw as the failure of conventional medical treatments (chemotherapy and radiation) to prolong life or provide quality of life. Surviving cancer and living life well is a process of: * Taking Control of Your Life * Building Your Immune System * Aggressive Therapy * Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
It's our birthright to live life free of disease. We come into this world with the physical blueprint to live 150 years. What we do to ourselves cuts this time in half and, for many, much more. Through lifestyle modification you, with a supportive physician, can reverse the carcinogenic process. It can be as simple as changing your diet or as complex as a combination of selective surgery, immunotherapy, diet and exercise. Your personal belief system will determine the choices you make. With knowledge and the right attitude you can make the choices necessary to improve your condition and live the healthy life you want.
Success however, is based on two fundamental questions you must answer: Are you willing to accept responsibility for your healing? Will you put into practice the choices you make in order to create a positive outcome?

More Risks From Fluoride

Heavy tea drinkers getting skeletal fluorosis.  The risk is much higher where water is artificially fluoridated with fertilizer waste products containing fluorsilicic acid.  This also gives you lead, mercury, arsenic and a wide range of other toxic heavy metals.  Places like Seattle and Everett along with many other Washington state communities are exposed daily to these poisons and the state health department endorses the actions.  Phoenix and many Arizona locations also are subjected to artificial fluoridation and seem to be beholden to Delta Dental's PR hype.
Happily people are wising up and saying no, learn more about the risk of fluoridation at FluorideAlet.org

Be aware that green tea is a high fluoride source and it can lead to pancreatic cancer.

Just Stand Up and Say NO to Drugs When Pregnant

I have over the past 10 years or more written extensively about the risk of harm to the health of pregnant women and their baby from SSRI anti depressant drugs.

It is also interesting to note too about Rh negative mothers with Rh negative babies and the fact that the mercury containing Rho-Gam shot can and does lead to autism.

But re-focusing on the push for requiring all pregnant women to take SSRI drugs to allegedly prevent Post Partum Depression or PPD is insanity at its best.  The risk of heart damage to the bay alone is enough to throw this push out the door as quickly as one can.  Maybe we need to force SSRIs on the bureaucrats that write such ridiculous policy.

Also of note is a new report on depression and new mothers from Chicago today suggesting that 40 percent of new mothers are depressed.

Physiologically this may in fact be nutritional deficiency and thyroid or adrenal stress.  Certainly the mainstream medical folks need to put this all into the proper perspective.  And in the interim pregnant women need to just say 'NO' to these drugs.

Electromagnetic Cream Tops Best's List

A. M. Best, the oldest and largest credit rating agency for the insurance industry just placed radiofrequency radiation from cell phones and cell towers and cybersecurity risks at the top of their list of emerging technology risks. Their website is www.ambest.com

The number 1 emerging technology-based risk is radiofrequency radiation. Best states "

RF (Radio Frequency) Radiation Risk – Today there are more than 600,000 cell sites in the United States and that number is expected to grow with the demand for more reliable wireless devices. The risks associated with long-term use of cell phones, although much studied over the past 10 years, remain unclear. Dangers to the estimated 250,000 workers per year who come in close contact with cell phone antennas, which act at close range essentially as open microwave ovens can include eye damage, sterility and cognitive impairments. While workers of cellular companies are well trained on the potential dangers, other workers exposed to the antennas are often unaware of the health risks. The continued exponential growth of cellular towers will significantly increase exposure to these workers and others coming into close contact with high-energy cell phone antenna radiation.

Number #2 is Cyber Risk -   Best says "Significant data breaches have become common (e.g., Citigroup, the International Monetary Fund, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Sony Online Entertainment, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International Inc., Verizon, and Heartland Payment Systems). These can involve, for example, loss of sensitive financial information, personal data, and proprietary secrets. Identity theft alone is estimated to cost consumer and companies roughly $5 billion and $50 billion, respectively, each year. A 2009 study found that lost data cost U.S. companies in excess of $200 per lost customer file. In a 2011 study conducted among large U.S. companies more than 80% of information technology executives said that they had detected one or more recent attacks. Such exposures continue to evolve as companies are increasingly storing sensitive and confidential information with cloud vendors – a vendor that provides other companies with an infrastructure on which to store data or run applications – exposing data to new types of breaches on a massive scale. Everyone's privacy is at risk.

Antennas to support fourth generation the (4G) wireless broadband infrastructure is being deployed seamlessly across Arizona, and around the world, including in remote areas where some people live. People suffering from electrical hypersensitivity or who just prefer to a quieter, more natural, lifestyle live. It is getting harder to find healthy, natural environmental places and spaces where people, animals, trees and plants can thrive.

Smart meters and other remote automated utility meters are intelligent end points that collect data and transmits it on the internet using the electronic "cloud."  They specifically state: "companies are increasingly storing sensitive and confidential information with cloud vendors – a vendor that provides other companies with an infrastructure on which to store data or run applications – exposing data to new types of breaches."  Smart meters in homes are known to be an easy way for hackers to gain entry to the major data handling systems that will contain information on utility customer energy use...and more.

Top Liability Expert A. M. Best Identifies Radio-frequency Radiation

With Emerging Technologies That “Pose Significant Risks with Possible Long-Tail Losses”

Radio-frequency Radiation heads A.M. Best list that includes Cyber Risk, Fracking, and Nanotechnology.

Why take note of A.M. Best’s opinion?  From its website www.ambest.com :

The largest and longest-established company devoted to issuing in-depth reports and financial strength ratings about insurance organizations.

Founded in 1899, A.M. Best Company is a full-service credit rating organization dedicated to serving the insurance industry. Policyholders refer to Best's ratings and analysis as a means of assessing the financial strength and creditworthiness of risk-bearing entities and investment vehicles.

From A.M. Best’s February 14, 2013 Best’s Briefing –

The insurance industry faces a constantly escalating level of exposure from rapidly developing technologies with risks that are not well understood.  In many situations, the science associated with understanding these new risks is in the early stages of development.  A.M. Best believes that it is critical for insurers to maintain vigilant oversight of emerging technologies as a critical component of their enterprise risk management system.  Effective enterprise risk management encompasses identifying, evaluating and addressing risks that could threaten the earnings or viability of an insurer.  This includes a prospective look at the underwriting exposures so that changes to policy language or underwriting criteria can properly manage losses for these new risks.  An exposure which may present only insignificant insured losses at present, may bring future unprecedented losses . . .

. . . Insurers need to monitor the manner in which emerging technologies are, or are likely to be, deployed; the risks associated with their use; their residual or unintended impacts; and the manner in which the insurance policies may be called upon to cover losses.

Emerging Technology-Based Risks

RF (Radio Frequency) Radiation Risk – Today there are more than 600,000 cell sites in the United States and that number is expected to grow with the demand for faster, more reliable wireless devices.

Cyber Risk -  Significant data breaches have become common (e.g., Citigroup, the International Monetary Fund, JP Morgan Chase & Co., Sony Online Entertainment, Hilton Worldwide, Marriott International Inc., Verizon, and Heartland Payment Systems). Such exposures continue to evolve as companies are increasingly storing sensitive and confidential information with cloud vendors – a vendor that provides other companies with an infrastructure on which to store data or run applications – exposing data to new types of breaches.

Fracking Risk – Over the past 10 years horizontal fracturing (“fracking’) has become a big business and a highly contentious issue.  The process involves pumping a pressurized fluid into a rock layer, which causes fracturing of the rock and release of petroleum, natural gas or other substances for extraction.  The potential benefits are enormous; however, there are significant risks, including potential release of radioactive substances, radon (a known carcinogen) in the natural gas going into homes and potential chemical contamination of drinking water.  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has determined that fracking was the likely source of ground water contamination in at least 36 cases.  There are a variety of other concerns including the potential for exposed workers to develop silicosis and that the process may lead to earthquakes.

Nanotechnology Risk -  A wide variety if consumer and industry products are increasingly constructed a the molecular level, using materials from 1 to 100 nanometers in length (a nanometer is one billionth of a meter).  Nanotechnology is employed in an array of products, including medicines and medical devices, glass, coatings, construction products, fire protection materials, vehicles, foods, textiles, cosmetics, optics and sports equipment.  Nano-sized particles, however, act differently than materials built at normal scale, and existing chemical risk assessments are not suited for exposures arising from nanoparticles.  Considerable concern has arisen that some nanoparticles may be toxic.  With the exception of airborne nanoparticles entering the lungs, understanding of the effects of nanoparticles on the human body, including accumulation, metabolism and organ-specific toxicity is extremely limited.  Concerns involve both the potential of immediate harms as well as harmful effects appearing after long latency periods.  Of the technology risks now emerging, nanotechnology product exposures may be the most similar to asbestos.  While it remains unclear whether nanoparticles can lead to asbestos-like losses, insurers need to carefully monitor developments of this emerging technology.

Conclusions
Insurers must evaluate constantly evolving technology exposures with the knowledge that existing scientific/technical understanding is often incomplete.  A.M. Best will review companies’ understanding of their exposure to emerging risk, and their approaches to mitigating the risks within the framework of their enterprise risk management programs.

What's Up at Cargill

To me it is unconscionable to market these manufactured sweetener products as they are man made and not in the whole, natural form.  What bothers me more is the lack of responsibility shown by the USA national nurse practitioner (NP) association that has Cargill's stevioside extract and erythritol combination product, 'Truvia', sponsoring an upcoming meeting/conference.
As a long time NP I personally do not use any of these products because I know the science behind the ingredients and I know they can cause adverse effects.

Now Cargill takes it one step further with its joint plan to engage in making a fermented "rebiana" with Evolva.  This manufactured in the lab/factory "stevia" is made with yeast and low cost plant sugars.
Stevia extracts – without agriculture?
Evolva and Cargill join forces on fermentation-derived extracts -
Swiss firm Evolva Holding has partnered with Cargill to develop and commercialise stevia extracts derived from a fermentation process, rather than through traditional extraction from the stevia plant.
Not only should you know what is in your food and how it is made, you may wish to consider that there may be adverse effects. (See "Problems with new sweetener" below.)

When Antibiotics Stop Working

In 1993 I worked on an approach to drop a direct hit on a rampage of flesh eating bacteria in Seattle.  Since that time we have seen over an over again more and more reports on ever increasing resistant bacteria.

This article below is one of more than 30 from Natural Health News dating back to 2004 -

Since few have been interested in my approach over these years, I felt it imperative with the new outbreak of what is termed "CRE", to repost on this issue.

The antibiotic being relied on for CRE in hospital or long term care centers is an old one which seems to have some very serious risks to health as well.

Of course little has been said about the impact of cell phones and the static electric field they create that carry bacteria and viruses from room to room.

Less has been said about the closed mindedness in mainstream medicine about any other way to address it than antibiotics.

We should be doing far better and we should have people willing to get their head out of the sand and develop more creative problem solving approaches.

I did.

I just want someone with courage to step up to the plate and test my method.

They might be amazed!

Everyone Needs to Improve Their Liver Health and Function

I found this article on line and with Spring coming along quickly I thought it would be informative.

Top Recommendation for Optimum Liver Function and Top 10 Herbals for Liver Cleansing

One of the most important organs in the body is your liver. The liver has many functions such as excretion of hormones, drugs and cholesterol, metabolizing protein, fat and carbohydrates, blood detoxification and purification (every minute your liver filters more than one litter of blood), activation of enzymes and storing vitamins, minerals and glycogen. Beside all of these, the liver works with other organs in the body to process and digest food properly. Your liver can heal and recover itself quickly but it can also get damaged quickly. Statistics show that more than 25% of Americans have fatty livers.

-You can improve your liver by consuming organic diet, avoiding alcohol, antibiotics and antacids, consuming less animal products, less of foods that have bad cholesterol, saturated fats and carbohydrates; avoiding toxic foods, additives, preservatives and genetically modified foods.

-Based on a study by University of Australia, genetically modified wheat can stimulate enzyme suppresser. The enzyme suppressor might attack enzymes in the body that produces glycogen; a hormone that regulates the metabolism of blood sugar. This can lead to liver failure or even death in some cases.

GM wheat health dangers - full details Here is the full study published by International Journal of Biological Science on how GMO corn can cause organ failure and liver and kidney damage.

A Comparison of the Effects of Three GM Corn Varieties on Mammalian Health

-Start your morning with drinking water. Drink lots of water and if you can add a squeezed organic lime to your water it would be great. Avoid sugary drinks, energy drinks, caffeine and sodas. Drinking water, preferably spring water cleanses body and gets rid of toxins.

Phosphorus and Cost Containment

Some NIH material is below on phosphorus.  Many years ago now some one at Medicare decided you could save on health care costs if you deleted this test from the blood chemistry panel.  Fact is that this test is really necessary to make sure you have some idea of how calcium is functioning and your level of bone health.  Labs charge in the area of $120 extra for this test depending on the lab and where you live.  Not much to be said for contining health costs.
Phosphorus is a treat minerals found in some foods such as Cereal Grains, Pasta, Pumpkin, Squash, and Watermelon Seeds. It plays an important role in proper cell functioning, regulation of calcium, strong bones and teeth, and for making ATP (adenosine triphosphate) and also the phospholipids that form all cell membranes(1a).

Phosphorus and bone health
Phosphorus, which constitutes hydroxyapatite with calcium, is a important component of bone. It is considered that there is no need to worry about the lack of phosphorus in the ordinary dietary habits, because a various of foods contain phosphorus.  There is a report of parathyroid hormone and bone resorption markers are increased in case of low calcium/phosphorus intake ratio. In the Dietary reference intakes for Japanese, 2010, shows 3,000 mg/day as a tolerable upper intake level of phosphorus. Some issues such as the intake ratio of calcium to phosphorus and an effect of organic phosphorus and inorganic phosphorus remain to be solved.  SOURCE

FLU Shot and the Elderly: Nothing New

You will have heard in recent days that the spin on the recent flu vaccine failure, especially with the elderly, is making the rounds on almost all media outlets.  When I first heard this I thought where have these people been and why aren't they reporting with real facts and connected reporting of the same issue for many years past.
February 21, 2013

ATLANTA (AP) — It turns out this year's flu shot is doing a startlingly dismal job of protecting senior citizens, the most vulnerable age group.
The vaccine is proving only 9 percent effective in people 65 and older against the harsh strain of the flu that is predominant this season, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday. SOURCE
I guess it is the continuation of the promotion of confusion or just plain not wanting you to know.

In general the issue of vaccinating Elders and getting poor results is not new.  And if it is well established that the effectiveness is  just not there then why continue the practice?
"... the vaccine's ability to keep the elderly alive was, "if present at all...very small and statistically non-significant and may simply be a healthy- user artifact that they were unable to identify".
" If an elderly person is not in good health, flu vaccination does little to help ward off lung infections, Dutch investigators report."
" In a review of 64 studies in 98 flu seasons, For elderly living in nursing homes, flu shots were non-significant for preventing the flu. For elderly living in the community, vaccines were not (significantly) effective against influenza, ILI or pneumonia.
Reference: “Vaccines for preventing influenza in the elderly.” The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. 3(2006)."
NB: Also note that water fluoridation suppresses immunity and is having the effect of limiting vaccine effectiveness at an average rate of 50%.  Funny how this number is similar to the reported diminished effectiveness in the 2012 vaccine.

Substance Found In Fruits And Vegetables Reduces Likelihood Of The Flu

ScienceDaily (2008-09-03) -- Mice given quercetin, a naturally occurring substance found in fruits and vegetables, were less likely to contract the flu. The study also found that stressful exercise increased the susceptibility of mice to the flu, but quercetin canceled out that negative effect. Quercetin, a close chemical relative of resveratrol, is present in a variety of fruits and vegetables, including red onions, grapes, blueberries, tea, broccoli and red wine. ...  read full article

TOXIC GENE IN GM CROPS

A virus gene that could be poisonous to humans has been missed when GM food crops have been assessed for safety.

GM crops such as corn and soya, which are being grown around the world for both human and farm animal consumption, include the gene.

A new study by the EU's official food watchdog, the European Food Safety Authority(EFSA), has revealed that the international approval process for GM crops failed to identify the gene.

Here Comes That GMO Flu Shot

"Getting a flu shot is a personal choice, although most healthcare experts recommend it. But now there's a new vaccine in town. You know that flu vaccine you're hearing about? The one that's made using an insect virus? About 150,000 doses of FluBlok are expected to hit the market at the tail end of the 2013 flu season. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the vaccine for use for 18- to 49-year-olds, saying it is different than other flu vaccines on the market because it isn't grown using eggs. This allows for much faster manufacturing. The approval came after a clinical trial of 2,300 people found FluBlok prevented the flu in about 45 percent of cases and was effective against all circulating flu viruses, not just the strains included in the vaccine.
According to Protein Sciences Corporation, the Connecticut-based manufacturer, Flublok does not contain the controversial mercury-containing preservative thimerosal. "This approval represents a technological advance in the manufacturing of an influenza vaccine," says Karen Midthun, MD, director of the FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research. "The new technology offers the potential for faster startup of the vaccine manufacturing process in the event of a pandemic, because it is not dependent on an egg supply or on availability of the influenza virus."

How do they know, how do they know it is safe, where are the studies?

And, ONLY 45% effective.  Not much to say for this jab, better to try to improve your nutrition and take good herbs, supplements, foods - all that are know to be of help.

CFL LIGHT BULBS AND CANCER

Not only do these bulbs waste energy, they are a hazardous waste, and now:

CFL Light Bulbs and UV Skin Cancer Risks

A study funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and published in a recent issue of the journal Photochemistry and Photobiology found widespread chipping or cracking in the phosphor surface coating of nearly all the compact fluorescent bulbs they examined. These cracks allow UV rays to escape, which would have been absorbed by the phosphor coating and converted to safe, visible light.

As reported in many new services, including "HealthDay, "most of the bulbs 'have cracks in the phosphor coating, probably due to the fact that the coating is brittle and has trouble making the tight bends required to make these bulbs compact," explained study lead author Miriam Rafailovich, a professor of materials science and engineering and director of the Garcia Center for Polymers at Engineered Interfaces at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y. 'As a result, we observed, by eye, defects in nearly all the bulbs that we studied." The researcher added that  "skin cells exposed to [compact fluorescent light] emissions showed the same damage as those exposed to UV light" when placed close, less than one foot, to a CFL bulb. Coconut and Cholesterol

I’ve been wondering just how many readers remember Carmen Miranda and Jerry Collona. I’ve wondered too how many readers might remember the Swedish film (best in Swedish with English subtitles) “My Life As A Dog”.
These may be two confusing questions and I know you’d ask what does either one have to do with health.
The answer is coconut.
You see at one time loNg ago Carmen and Jerry did a song together that Jerry was quite famous for singing solo. That song was one I liked a lot as a child, “I’ve Got A Lovely Bunch of Coconuts”. It is one I have fond memories of singing hundreds of times as a child.
I am a forever fan of the Swedish film, “My Life As A Dog”. In the movie, Ingemar, played by the young star, Anton Glanzelius, enjoys the coconut song too.
What the song has to do with health, of course, is the lovely coconut.
In this day and age of proselytizing the cholesterol myth, thousands of healthy and ill people are told they must take these drugs.
Some fantasy I’d say because for the most part these drugs that have gouged your pocketbook and your health for some twenty plus years still haven’t shown any real benefit.
Now don’t get me wrong, there are some good things that cholesterol can do for you if you can get past the marketing hype.
Your body depends on cholesterol to help you make hormones, communicate between cells, and repair damage to your cardiovascular system.
Cholesterol is an important substance that circulates with the help of the lipoproteins you know as LDL and HDL.
LDL, or the one you most likely have heard called ‘bad’ cholesterol helps carry cholesterol to your cells for healthy cell wall membranes (the thing that keeps cellular contents wrapped up where they belong). LDL helps with other cellular functions too.
HDL, or the one you know as the ‘good’ type acts like a mop to sweep up extra circulating cholesterol from your blood, transports it to your liver, where it is on its way to being excreted from your body.
In reality, keeping this all in balance to the key.
There are quite a few things you can do to keep members of this cholesterol family in balance. Mostly though mainstream medicine hasn’t given you a clue.
Most in the know will tell you that eating with the Mediterranean foodplan and more fiber will do wonders for your cholesterol balance. That Mediterranean diet has been around and recommended as far back as the 1960s to keep a healthy heart.
Rice bran oil is another helpful substance because it contains the nutrient gamma oryzanol that helps keep cholesterol from being absorbed from your gut.
Then there’s that lovely bunch of coconuts.
Coconut oil as many are now learning is one of the healthiest of all natural oils, especially for any high temperature cooking you do. Another constituent of coconut that contains coconut oil but also a lot of fiber as well is what is called ‘coconut crème’.
From time to time I get product samples to test and review. Not too long ago I received some organic coconut crème and got to thinking about just exactly what I was going to do to try it out.
One good thing is that this is organic coconut crème.
After some thinking it dawned on my that I should try it made up as coconut milk. I don’t use much in the way of dairy products and sometimes you need some ‘milk’. I hadn’t been too happy with some brands I found in the stores, these just tasted thin and watery for the most part. These also all contained carrageenan which is a toxic thickener manufactured from seaweed.
After eating a spoonful each day for a few days I decided to test this crème blended up as milk.
It was great! And it solved my sourcing problem. Now I just make up a quart at a time using distilled water and one heaping tablespoon of the crème. Even though the label says one teaspoon, what works best in flavor and texture for me is the tablespoon.
The with the festive season underway and my love of fresh cranberries I just fell in to a recipe that ended up being really tasty and enjoyable. Can’t beat the antioxidant combination and enzyme help from the little red berry this time of year.
For the raw foodists you will like this I’m sure but I think its great for any one and filling too. You can make this as a pie, roll into snack size balls, or come up with your own way of making it special.
Start with 12 ounces of fresh, room temperature cranberries, washed and sorted to remove any spoiled ones. Put them in a high speed blender or food processor along with 1 cup of filtered water, 1 cup of coconut crème (my favorite choice is below, at the end of this article), ½ cup of liquid coconut oil, a pinch of pure sea salt, and vanilla to taste. Blend until well processed.
I added about a half of a cup of raw pecans but you could choose flaked coconut for a more intense flavor.
When this mixture is smooth and creamy pour into a pie pan and refrigerate for a few hours or over night. Cut into portions and enjoy.
While this isn’t too sweet, you can add some dates to the mix or pour some pure maple syrup or nicely whipped cream on top.
The good part is that it is really good, and it isn’t even my recipe. The other good part is that it is made up of things that naturally benefit your health and help keep your cholesterol level in balance.
Coconut oil and coconut crème both benefit your heart and your health. These natural substances do protect your body from depositing unhealthy fats in your arteries. Quite the contrary, using soy, corn, canola, or other vegetables oils lead to the production of trans fats and this is what does the damage.
If you already have balanced, high, or low cholesterol, using natural coconut products you may benefit with your LDL/HDL ratio moving in the most favorable direction.
Keep this in mind, because now that food has been declared off limits for improving health by the CODEX authorities, it may come to pass that I won’t be able to say any of this again in the future.

NB: I use this to make delicious GMO free coconut milk, and in the recipe included in the above article.
