VETS: PTSD Gets No Benefit from Antipsychotic

The one major concern many have is that the reason the Rx fail veterans with PTSD is that the core cause is exposure to depleted uranium in the war zone.

Military-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) showed no response to risperidone (Risperdal) for antidepressant-resistant symptoms, data from a multicenter Veterans Affairs study showed.

Risperidone-treated patients had about a four-point greater improvement on a PTSD scale than did those who received placebo, but the difference did not achieve statistical significance.

Detailed analysis showed no significant difference between groups at any point during the six months of follow-up, John H. Krystal, MD, of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, and co-authors reported in the Aug. 3 issue of JAMA. read more

The major concerns behind this effort, even though the oldest vet we have helped is 85, are depleted uranium, PTSD and traumatic brain injury(TBI). I watched how little is done for the returning vets in a news story ...

TOXIC LEGACY OF U.S ASSAULT ON FALLUJAH 'WORSE THAN HIROSHIMA'
Investigations by Dr. Chris Busby and others into the high levels of birth defects and cancers in Fallujah after the Iraq war, show a 12-fold increase in childhood cancers, increased leukaemia, lymphoma, a 10-fold increase in female breast cancer, & found a cocktail of possible causes including toxic agents from explosives, radiation etc. Published in 'International Journal of Environmental Studies & Public Health.' From the report "Cancer, Infant Mortality & Birth-Sex Ratios in Fallujah, Iraq, 2005-2009." It says the actual cause remains unknown.
(Edward's comments: Toxicology reports on those affected should show high levels of the causative agents, so it would no longer be 'cause unknown'.)

Along with a concern about rising rates of thyroid cancer I think it is worthwhile to consider the implications of fluoride in the water supply, fluoride in many drugs and in pink salt or found in other places along with increasing cell phone use and increasing rates of exposure to ionizing radiation or depleted uranium as vectors for this serious health concern.
Thyroid Cancer Increasing, Scientists Don't Know Why

ScienceDaily (2009-05-05) -- It's a medical mystery that has been developing for at least a decade: thyroid cancer --- not breast, prostate, lung, or colon cancer --- is the fastest increasing cancer among women and men in the United States. ...  Read full article

ELECTROMAGNETIC SENSITIVITY AWARENESS MONTH

Make a Note of This - MAY 2009
The Mayor of Broward County (Fort Lauderdale and area), Florida, The Honorable Stacy Ritter has proclaimed May 2009 as ELECTROMAGNETIC SENSITIVITY AWARENESS MONTH.

EHS is a serious and growing illness that most politicians and doctors in North America are not willing to even talk about. Thanks to the brave and sensible stance of Mayor Ritter and her council, EHS will now get the recognition that it deserves.
