Military-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) showed no response to risperidone (Risperdal) for antidepressant-resistant symptoms, data from a multicenter Veterans Affairs study showed.

Risperidone-treated patients had about a four-point greater improvement on a PTSD scale than did those who received placebo, but the difference did not achieve statistical significance.

Detailed analysis showed no significant difference between groups at any point during the six months of follow-up, John H. Krystal, MD, of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, and co-authors reported in the Aug. 3 issue of JAMA. read more

The major concerns behind this effort, even though the oldest vet we have helped is 85, are depleted uranium, PTSD and traumatic brain injury(TBI). I watched how little is done for the returning vets in a news story ...

PTSD treatment for Veterans found ineffective.
Eli Lilly Zyprexa can cause diabetes I took Zyprexa a powerful Lilly schizophrenic drug for 4 years it was prescribed to me off-label for post traumatic stress disorder was ineffective costly and gave me diabetes.

FIVE at FIVE
The Zyprexa antipsychotic drug, whose side effects can include weight gain and diabetes, was sold for "children in foster care, people who have trouble sleeping, elderly in nursing homes."
Five at Five was the Zyprexa sales rep slogan, meaning 5mg dispensed at 5pm would keep patients quiet.

Daniel,
thank you for your very accurate comment.
I am saddened to see that you have one of the most troubling side effects of this drug.
It was forced on my mother - not recommended for elders especially women - and I tried to get it stopped. My brother in South Hero VT ignored my recommendations and FDA data I had to support this. He had POA and was threatened by the care center so he did not act. Now he claims I refused to help in her care.
I hope what you are doing can help others.
I have a diabetes page that may help you, leaflady.org
